The folks at Axis Maps, who are leaders in cartography and geosciences, have been working on a cool project and released their efforts a few weeks ago.
What is it? Maps of Chicago and Boston (to begin with – other cities are on the way). The twist that makes them unique: the streets, landmarks and bodies of water are all represented by words.
I think these are really cool, especially the black and white one.
I may be a bit biased, of course – a good friend is part of the Axis Maps team. But they’ve been doing some amazing work (including the release of Indiemapper, a new mapmaking tool).
